March 13 2010

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Although it is a few days early, I will be riding in the Sioux Falls Saint Patrick's Day Parade on the 13th. My great-great-grandmother bravely traveled from Ireland to America unaccompanied many years ago and I will be thinking of her on that day. This may be my last parade as Mrs. South Dakota America before I crown the next Mrs. SD America in June. Anyone interested in participating in this years pageant can contact Rosemary Savage at Professional Image by Rosemary at 605-366-0773 or send me a message at mrssdamerica2009@yahoo.com.

'Death by Chocolate' was the Girl Scout fundraiser I attended today. Amazing desserts, I sampled every single one and they were all terrific! The Holiday Inn team took the prize for the best chocolate dessert, which they made with Girl Scout cookies. As a troop leader I was happy to help with this fundraiser and look forward to delivering our cookie orders next week!

The Little Black Dress for MS luncheon was a great success! The featured speaker was the founder of "Bagolitas", I encourage everyone to check out her website for some fabulous handbags! The next MS Walk is scheduled for April 17th, so contact the MS office in Sioux Falls and sign up today.

I had the honor of visiting with some of the patients at the VA hospital in Sioux Falls today in honor of National Veteran's Appreciation Week. They were all in great spirits, despite the challenges they are facing. Thank you veterans!

January 30th 2010

Today I had the honor of greeting participants of the Juvenile Diabetes Mall Walk at the Sioux Empire Mall. It was very heart warming to see so many participants and families walking to support these children. Following the mall walk I headed over to Color Me Mine to assist with their Princess Party. I helped several little girls paint their tiara lights, it was so much fun. Also in attendance for the Princess Party were Alyssa Hustrulid - Miss SD Teen USA, Emily Miller - Miss SD USA and Jessie Browere - Mrs. SD International.

Open House and Items on Display at Canton Library

Throughout January and February the Canton Library was displaying some of my Mrs. South Dakota items including my evening gowns and crown and banner. On January 28th they hosted an open house for me. My children and I are regulars at the library and the librarians are wonderful ladies. Thanks again!
